Is there a reason why Westerners seem to prefer Thai women over western women?

Seems to be a common trend on this forum. And a trending topic on social media… “passport bros”.

But I’m an older guy, way past my prime (late 30s) so I don’t really understand why so many men want to fly half a world away, destroy their earning potential and put in 5,000 hours required to learn Thai just to date Thai women.

– But aren’t there plenty of east or southeast asian women in the west already?

And it seems like most, almost every foreigner I meet or read about here won’t put in the slightest effort to read/write thai despite wanting to date Thai women.

Is there something I’m missing?
