Irish singer Damien Rice back this June in Bangkok

Seven years after he last performed in Thailand, Irish singer-songwriter Damien Rice will come back to the Thai capital again as a part of his Asian tour. 

Best known for emotionally intense and melancholic folk ballads like The Blower’s Daughter, The Greatest Bastard, and Cannonball, the 49-year-old multi-instrumentalist will bring his amorphous and angelic vocal quality to a Bangkok hall in June. 

The news was announced yesterday by concert promoter Viji Corp. to the delight of Rice’s Thai fans, who call him P’ Kao, or Brother Rice.

Rice’s concert will take place June 6 at Union Hall located inside the Union Mall on Lat Phrao Road. 

Tickets go on sale March 10 and will range from THB1,900 to THB3,000 online.
