Infected governor ‘improving’

Samut Sakhon governor Verasak Vichitsangsri’s overall condition has improved since he contracted the Covid-19 virus, according to Prasit Watanapa, dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Siriraj Hospital.

Dr Prasit said yesterday Mr Verasak has responded well to treatment in the past 24 hours.

X-rays showed the condition of his lungs has improved and the level of blood-oxygen concentration was also rising. Use of a ventilator will be decreased and the doctor will lower the amounts of muscle relaxants and sleeping pills for the governor.

Mr Verasak has been receiving the antiviral drug Favipiravir. The treatment will not be rushed as the governor was admitted to hospital in a severe condition compounded by his age, 58.
