Honours even in England v Scotland game

It was a case of honours even as England and Scotland expats battled it out for a 0-0 draw in the Alex Forbes Memorial Cup held at Patana International School last Saturday.

Despite the scoreline, there were plenty of chances in a hard-fought game with Scotland having the best opportunities but not being able to convert.

Scotland dominated possession with Joe Rogan influential in midfield, but despite the pressure could not penetrate the well-organised England defence in which Man of the Match Eric Jordan and Mark Stevens were outstanding.

Scotland thought they had scored early on but the goal was ruled out as a result of a foul. Although Michael Murgatroyd in the England goal was the busiest of the two custodians, Scotland keeper Ronan pulled off a couple of fine saves highlighted by tipping onto the bar a cracking shot by Adam Carrington.
