For those who moved from chiang mai to bangkok, how did it actually turn out?

I live in Chiang Mai.

I am considering a move from Chiang Mai to Bangkok (work reasons) and would like to hear from people who have actually done it, not just visited.

If you lived in Chiang Mai and then moved to Bangkok, I would appreciate hearing about:

  • What made you leave Chiang Mai in the first place

  • What you immediately liked more in Bangkok

  • What you missed about Chiang Mai after moving

  • How your quality of life changed over time, not just at the start

  • Whether daily life felt more stressful, more stimulating, or both

  • How social life, dating, and meeting people compared

  • Work and career opportunities, especially for tech, business, or international work

  • Cost of living in practice, not just rent comparisons

  • Pollution, noise, pace, and how much they actually affected you

  • Whether you would make the same move again knowing what you know now

  • Anything else worth knowing I didn't cover above

I am not looking for "Bangkok is chaotic" or "Chiang Mai is chill" stereotypes. I am specifically interested in how the move feels after several months or years, once it is no longer new.

I am only interested in 1st hand experiences from people who have actually lived in Chiang Mai and Bangkok, not holidays, hypotheticals, or 2nd hand stories

Thanks!
