Thailand’s Elias Dolah celebrates after scoring against Singapore.
Thailand defender Elias Dolah expressed confidence on Tuesday that Thailand will beat defending champions Vietnam in both legs of the AFF Suzuki Cup semi-finals in Singapore.
Five-time champions Thailand face arch-rivals Vietnam on Thursday and on Sunday for a place in the final of the Asean championship.
In the other last-four tie, hosts Singapore take on Indonesia on Wednesday and Saturday. The final will also be played over two legs on Dec 29 and Jan 1.
Elias became an instant hit when he scored the opening goal in Thailand’s 2-0 win over Singapore in their last group game on Saturday.
“I am very happy to score for Thailand. I am happy to make my family and friends proud of me,” said Port star Elias.
