CRF300L or NX500 for Northern Thailand?

For the riders out here. I've got a proper dirt bike already for trails, and a naked bike for fast paved roads, but I want something that can explore rough back-roads (not full off-road). My dirt bike is too slow on the pavement, and my street bike is too rough. I'm thinking roads like behind Samoeng, such as Samoeng to Wat Chan, or Phrao to Chai Prakan. Paved, but too bad/rough for a street bike.

The NX500 looks amazing overall for touring too but the suspension travel is ridiculously low (135mm front, 150mm rear). The CRF300L has much better suspension for me (I'm a lightweight rider too), but of course 200cc less. Also much lighter, so easier to U-Turn and explore easy dirt 4×4 that I might later want to visit with the dirt bike.

What does everyone think?
