Crestfallen Buriram put focus on T1

Buriram United have switched their focus to winning the Thai League 1 title this weekend after failing to reach the group stage of the AFC Champions League.

The Thunder Castle lost 3-2 on penalties at South Korea’s Daegu in a play-off match on Tuesday.

The Thai League 1 leaders were just seconds from advancing to the group stage when Jonathan Bolingi gave them the lead in the 120th minute.

But the Koreans stunned the Thais moments later when Cesinha made it 1-1 to send the match into a shoot-out.

Daegu join China’s Shandong, Japan’s Urawa Red Diamonds and Singapore’s Lion City Sailors in Group F to be held at Buriram’s Chang Arena.
