Classical music, queer sex history converge in Patpong for ‘Tchaikovsky in Twilight’

Patpong Museum’s artist in residence Oat Montien next week will put on a concert packed with classical music, sexual themes, and the queer history of the norotious red-light district. 

Held at Candle Light Studio on Soi Patpong 2, Tchaikovsky in Twilight will explore the topics of romance, sex, and queer culture by way of Russian composer Tchaikovsky’s Sextet for Strings in D Minor (Op.70).

The score will be performed by Pro Musica, a string sextet – Rhys Watkins, Omiros Yavroumis, Aibek Ashirmatov, Tasana Nagavajara, Rowena Calvert, and Noa Lev Chorin. 

Alongside the music are an art installation, poetry reading, and storytelling about the queer history of Patpong, according to Oat, who is a nude artist.
