Charnchai gets judicial promotion

The Judicial Commission of the Administrative Court has confirmed that vice-president Charnchai Sawangsak will step up into the presidency later this year, subject to Senate approval.

The Commission had to decide who should succeed current court president Piya Patangtha, whose term ends on Sept 26.

The Act on the Establishment of Administrative Courts and Administrative Court Procedure (2017) stipulates that each presidency lasts for four years.

The commission has to submit its nominee to the prime minister to ask for the Senate’s approval within 15 days.

The final step is for His Majesty the King to approve the appointment by royal endorsement.
