Cancelling full moon party and wanting to attend the Yi Peng festival instead

Me and a friend are coming for 3 weeks around November and was originally going to be attending the full moon party down south, however as I’ve looked more into the holiday I think this festival is something I’d rather do.

I’ve found the festival is on the 27th/28th of November. Which day of these is the parade on?

I’m looking for spots to watch the lanterns and participate without paying an extortionate amount. I’d rather get stuck in to the public stalls and events surrounding the festival.

Also, am I correct in thinking that theirs no alcohol allowed during the festival time?
