Brutal murder, hands tied behind the back, tattooed middle-aged man was hit in the head, body buried in grass – crime cover-up

A middle-aged man with a dragon and tiger tattoo was hit in the head, his hands tied behind his back, and his body was dumped in the grass near a fish pond in Bang Phli. A worker guarding the fish pond revealed that a tall, dark-skinned man drove a green and yellow taxi into the crime scene in the middle of the night. The Pak Nam police chief ordered officers to urgently hunt down the culprit.

At 10:00 a.m. on August 27, 2024, Pol. Lt. Col. Boonserm Kingket, Investigation Officer, Bang Phli Police Station, Samut Prakan Province, was notified of a body found dumped at the edge of a fish pond, Village No. 7 (Soi next to Ramathibodi Hospital, Samut Prakan), Tambon Bang Pla, Amphoe Bang Phli, Samut Prakan Province. After receiving the report, he traveled to inspect the scene along with Pol. Col. Pairoj Petchploy, Superintendent of Bang Phli Police Station, investigation officers, forensic doctors from Ramathibodi Chakri Naruebodin Hospital, officers from the Samut Prakan Provincial Forensic Science Division, and rescue workers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation.

At the scene, a deceased male was found dumped in the grass near a fish pond. Initial examination revealed an unknown name. It is estimated that he is around 50-60 years old. He was wearing a gray polo shirt, cream-colored pants, and flip-flops. Both hands were tied behind his back with a green nylon rope. On the left side of his head, there was a large wound from being beaten until his skull was cracked and caved in. On the left side of his head, there were 6 more wounds from being beaten. On his body, there were tattoos on both upper arms, the back of his left hand, and his neck. On his back, there was a dragon tattoo and on the front of his body a running tiger tattoo. It is estimated that he had been dead for at least 8-9 hours.

From the inspection of the area where the body was found, it was found that the tire tracks of the car had driven in for a long distance. The officers therefore took pictures as evidence. As for the body of the deceased, the officers handed it over to rescue workers to take for an autopsy at the Institute of Forensic Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital, Chakkrabuedin, Samut Prakan.

From questioning Mr. Kato, 22 years old, a Burmese man who was a fish pond guard, he said through an interpreter that at 2:30 a.m. in the middle of the night on August 27, a green and yellow taxi drove into the scene and asked for water. The driver was a tall Thai man, and then drove away immediately. Later, on the morning of August 27 at 9:00 a.m., the fish pond guard came to do personal business in the area and found the body of the deceased abandoned and concealed. He rushed to tell his employer to notify the authorities to come and inspect.

From inquiries, Mr. Paisarn Suksangnet, former headman of Bang Pla sub-district, said that his subordinates called to tell him that he had found a body, so he rushed to look at the pond and notify the village headman. His subordinates were Burmese and could not speak Thai very well. The pond where the body was found did not belong to him, but belonged to someone else who lived nearby.

Mr. Thiraphong Fak-on, village headman of Village 7, Tambon Bang Pla, said that at around 8:30 a.m., a villager called to report that someone had dumped a body at the spot. He rushed to check and found tire tracks and grass that had been trampled until it was flat. He leaned forward to look and found the body lying on its back, covered with grass, but its feet were sticking out. He quickly contacted officials to come and inspect the scene.

“At night, this area is very deserted and quiet. Normally, there will be police patrolling here as usual. I will run to check it out too because it is an area where 3 districts meet. The first person who saw it was the fish pond guard. He saw it and called the owner of the pond. Then the owner of the pond called me again. This area is private land. It is a fish pond. Inside, there is no way to go anywhere. Only people inside can enter and exit. As for the green and yellow taxi that came in, someone only remembered the last 2 digits of the license plate, which was 69. The driver was a tall, dark-skinned man who got in alone,” said the village headman.

Initially, Pol. Col. Wichit Boonchinwuttikul, Commander of Samut Prakan Provincial Police, went to inspect the scene of the incident and urged officers to urgently track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice, as this was a shocking case where the perpetrators acted brazenly and had no fear of the law.
