Bangkok Screening Room to live on with new cinephile tenant Documentary Club

It’s not at all sad news for cinephiles in Bangkok

While alt-cinema Bangkok Screening Room is concluding its run and closing at the end of March, this afternoon came word that the movie house won’t be demolished but handed over to a tenant at the fore of serious films in the capital, the Documentary Club. 

“We’re delighted to introduce you to a new tenant at the Woof Pack building, who is a familiar face to many local cinephiles and well known for their documentary film expertise,” Bangkok Screening Room announced today. “This handover means that Bangkok still has an independent cinema and movie lovers can still enjoy a variety of film programs present to you by the Doc Club team!”

Documentary Club founder Thida Plitpolkarnpim said the move resulted from her regretting the loss of another quality cinema was calling quits.
