Bangkok returns to Middle Earth for 20th anniversary of LOTR in Imax

Though it’s kinda the worst time to be in a cinema what with all the COVID, would all three installments of the Lord of the Rings trilogy in Imax be enough to mask up for? 

Definitely!

To mark the 20th anniversary of the epic fantasy adventure, mega cinema chain Major announced Thursday afternoon that the trilogy will director Peter Jackson’s recent 4K remasters at its Imax theaters. 

The films will show in May at Major cinemas, such as those at the EmQuartier and Paragon shopping malls. More details will be announced at a later date.

The Imax release of the trilogy comes 20 years after The Fellowship of the Ring came out in 2001. It and subsequent installments were shot on 35mm film just before moviemaking and theaters transitioned to digital.
