The Thai women’s badminton team bowed out in the quarter-finals of the Asia Team Championships 2026 in Qingdao, China, yesterday.

They lost to Indonesia 3-2 in a closely fought encounter at Qingdao Conson Gymnasium.

The tie came down to the deciding fifth match and it was Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo, who snatched the last-four spot for Indonesia with a 21-13, 21-16 win over Pornpicha Choeikeewong in the singles event.

Singles stars Busanan Ongbamrungphan and Pitchamon Opatniputh won the points for Thailand but two doubles pairs and Pornpicha lost their matches as the team exited the tournament in the last eight.
