Bangkok Post – “Former WTO Chief Advocates for Thailand’s Adaptation to Global Changes”

Article Summary:

Former World Trade Organization (WTO) chief Supachai Panitchpakdi has called for Asia and Thailand to adapt to a rapidly changing global environment dominated by multipolar power and geoeconomics. Speaking at the “The Game Changer – Outlook 2026 & Beyond” event, he emphasized the need for strategic technology adaptation.

Supachai identified three key “international game changers” that are reshaping the world’s landscape. He particularly noted the emergence of a “multipolar world without multilateralism,” which reflects a shift away from regulated global systems.

According to Supachai, this new paradigm necessitates a change in strategic thinking for nations to navigate complexities in international relations effectively. Emphasizing the absence of a rules-based system, he urged leaders to rethink their strategies in response to these evolving global dynamics.
