In 1993, Spanish multi-instrumentalists Fain Sanchez Duenas and Vincent Molino, along with singer/songwriter Benjamin Escoriza, formed the music group Radio Tarifa. They released their groundbreaking album, Rumba Argelina, which expertly fuses Flamenco, Arab-Andalusian, Arabic, Moorish, and Mahgrebi music with elements from the Renaissance, Mediterranean, and Caribbean traditions.

This innovative sound was more than a simple blend; the musicians conducted extensive research into the historical roots of these genres. By integrating pre-1492 musical styles with contemporary melodies, Radio Tarifa created a unique auditory experience that featured both ancient instruments and modern additions like electric bass and saxophone.

The album achieved significant acclaim, leading the band to tour internationally and captivate audiences worldwide. The name Radio Tarifa reflects the band’s creative vision, evoking an imaginary radio that broadcasts these rich musical traditions.
