Heavy thunderstorms driven by a churning twister are heading to Bangkok and neighboring provinces over the next two days.
Heavy rain is expected across much of the metro area today and tomorrow in the run-up to this weekend’s official start of the rainy season, according to the meteorological department. Forecasts call for 60% of Bangkok as well as the northeast, central and southern areas to be pelted with wet.
The northern and eastern provinces will face heavy thunderstorms expected over at least 70% of the area.
The storm front comes courtesy of Cyclone Asani currently charging across the Andaman Sea. The rainy season is expected to last until mid-October.
