Air Quality – Dealbreaker or doable

Hi everyone,

I posted this in r/expats but was directed here. I know that there are posts about this topic already, but they are from people who are already based in Chiang Mai.

I have been offered a job based out of Chiang Mai, but I would not be able to leave during the burning season, so my question is whether the burning season would be a dealbreaker or not for accepting this position.

I do not have children, am healthy and neither too young nor too old, and would be relocating by myself. I am comfortably in between being a homebody and a party animal, and am equally happy in nature as I am in front of the telly.

Is the air quality reason enough to look elsewhere, or do the pros of living in the city otherwise make up for it? Would I be sacrificing my quality of life for a few months of the year, or is it a grin and bear it kind of case?
