Aimsaard sisters prevail in Hylo Open title showdown

Thai sisters Benyapa and Nuntakarn Aimsaard stunned their senior compatriots Jongkolphan Kititharakul and Rawinda Prajongjai 21-18, 18-21, 21-17 in the women’s doubles final at the Hylo Open in Germany on Sunday.

Eighth seeds Benyapa and Nuntakarn got the better of the top-seeded opponents for the first time to win the title at the World Tour Super 300 tournament in Saarbruecken.

“Previously when we played them, we felt pressure on the court because we were playing against our teammates who were also our seniors,” said Nuntakarn.

“This time we were kind of used to it and tried to stay relaxed, just enjoy every second of the match.”

It is their third title this year after having won the India Open (500) and Vietnam Open (100).

The siblings also finished second at the Korea Open (500).

They received US$14,220 (approx 533,000 baht) for their Hylo win, while…
