Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds wants to turn Wrexham into a ‘global force’
LONDON: Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney completed one of football’s most unlikely takeovers when they finalised their purchase of non-league minnows Wrexham on Tuesday.
The Tinseltown stars have taken 100 per cent control of the National League club from the Wrexham Supporters Trust.
Reynolds and McElhenney have made a 2 million pound ($2.76 million) investment in Wrexham under the terms of the deal.
In a statement issued by the Supporters Trust, the actors said funds will be made available immediately and “first-team player identification will be a priority”.
Further money will be spent to enhance the women’s football programme, community initiatives and the Racecourse Ground.
