At 7:20 PM, on February 3rd, 2024, Capt. Thamanat Prompow, the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, rushed to the Ministry of Agriculture building, Phra Nakhon, Bangkok, after receiving a fire report on the second floor of the building.
Capt. Thamanat publicly revealed that the fire caused damage to an office zone and the working group of Mr. Chaiya Phromma, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives. Regarding the fire incident, Capt. Thamanat asserted that it was not from old electric wires as they were replaced with new ones recently.
According to Thai national media, there was one meeting table, ten chairs, and other documents inside the office.
The relevant officials secured the area and prevented unrelated individuals from intervening in the area as they feared that the old building might collapse. The teams would evaluate the estimated financial amount of damages and investigate the building to determine the exact cause of the incident after the building cooled down.
Praram 199 Radio Center reported that the four-story building had the source of the fire that started on the second floor, a kitchen room, then spread to other zones in a 20 square meter radius. The firefighters took 20 minutes to control the fire. There were no injuries or casualties reported.
