A major development has emerged in the Pattaya shooting case that left one man dead. The suspect, Mr. Prawet Chanthong, 36, has surrendered to authorities after a day-long manhunt.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Thawatchai Jindakuansanong, Commander of the Chonburi Provincial Police, along with his team, confirmed Mr. Prawet’s surrender at a press conference this afternoon, February 1st. The suspect emerged from a cassava plantation to surrender himself in Baan Krak, Nong Pla Lai, around 6:00 AM, following a 24-hour search by police.
During initial questioning, Mr. Prawet reportedly confessed to the shooting, citing personal revenge as the motive. He claimed that he had ongoing conflicts with the deceased, Mr. Panya Khayanngan, 39, who used to be his friend, over the past year. He further alleged that Mr. Panya had ordered a group of his peers to attack him two days before the shooting, prompting him to seek revenge.
Police have detained Mr. Prawet for further questioning and are searching for the firearm used in the crime, which he admitted to discarding near an abandoned warehouse.
