In a bid to enhance safety, the newly-appointed commander of Chonburi Provincial Police conducted a patrol alongside Pattaya Police, Tourist Police, and the Banglamung District Chief at Pattaya Walking Street yesterday, December 9th.
Prior to the patrol, the new commander, Pol. Maj. Gen. Thawatchakiat Jinda Kuansanong, chaired a meeting of the mentioned officers and business owners at The Stones House on Walking Street to introduce safety measures, which aim to bolster confidence for both residents and tourists in Pattaya.
These measures include:
The regular screening of both Thai and foreign tourists to prevent illegal activities.
Ensuring all businesses operate 24/7 CCTV cameras both inside and outside their venues.
The launching of a proper staff training program for security guards in December.
Furthermore, Pol. Col. Piyapong Ensan, Deputy Chief of Tourist Police, outlined the initiatives that the tourist police are attempting to implement including:
Adjusting patrol hours for Walking Street to 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM
Improving lighting in dark areas.
Installation of additional streetlights.
Installation of CCTV cameras to cover more ground.
Launching training for staff members at entertainment venues.
Following the meeting, Pol. Maj. Gen. Thawatchakiat and relevant officials conducted an inspection on Walking Street and greeted tourists to enhance their confidence while they explored the iconic thoroughfare.
