In self-defense, a brave naval officer in Sattahip shot a violent ex-husband, who was attacking his ex-girlfriend on the road. One bullet directly hit the suspect in the testicles, immediately halting him from harming his former partner.
The naval officer, only identified as Chief Petty Officer First Class Thanongsak, 48, was waiting at the incident scene with a gun that he had disarmed from the suspect, only identified as Mr. Lit, 38.
According to Thanongsak, he shot Mr. Lit with his own gun in self defense after Mr. Lit opened fire at him, after he tried to stop Mr. Lit from attacking his girlfriend. The incident took place at 01:30 AM on Saturday, July 1st, within Soi Mankaew in the Samaesan sub-district of Sattahip district, Chonburi province.
According to reports, Mr. Lit sustained two gunshot wounds from Thanongsak’s 9mm pistol, one in his abdomen and the other in his testicles. He was in a serious condition, so the rescuers promptly rushed him to a local hospital.
Sattahip police responding to the incident collected multiple gun shells from the site. They also found Mr. Lit’s ex-girlfriend, Ms. A, name removed for her protection, sitting in her vehicle with a broken windshield, shocked by the incident. She fortunately did not sustain serious injuries.
According to her testimony, Ms. A said she was driving her pickup truck back home alone when she ran into Mr. Lit, her ex-boyfriend, who had presumably been waiting for her at the front of her house. Ms. A said she broke up with him a long time ago, but he had been following her around, trying to reconcile with her, for months.
Once Ms. A saw that her path was blocked, she tried to back up her car to escape. However, Mr. Lit suddenly fired his gun at her, causing the windshield to shatter, before opening the door and attempting to pull her out. At this moment, Chief Petty Officer Thanongsak, who had heard the commotion and was nearby, ran to assist and pulled Ms. A away before Mr. Lit could turn and shoot at him.
The shot missed, and officer Thanongsak fired back in self defense, causing Mr. Lit to collapse to the ground.
The naval officer did not flee and insisted he only tried to protect Ms. A from her violent former partner. Sattahip police, meanwhile, said they would question Mr. Lit to gain his side of the story later.
Officer Thanongsak was highly praised by netizens for what people viewed as his heroic action to protect a defenseless woman.
