Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s recent exclusive interview with Chinese media outlet CCTV has been viewed by more than 490 million times on cctvplus.com.
The video interview was posted on Sunday, February 5th, and received overwhelming responses from Chinese viewers.
The minister in the video mostly talked about Thailand’s close relationship with China in many aspects, especially tourism.
After the video went viral, the Chinese media reported that Anutin is now like a celebrity in China. His role in welcoming the first group of Chinese tourists traveling to Thailand on January 9th really added to his popularity in China.
On Monday, February 6th, Anutin told Thai press, “It is totally unexpected that my interview received 490 million views. They asked me at the airport to wish Chinese people a happy Chinese New Year, and I did my best. That probably made the video booming.”
In the video interview, Anutin also invites Chinese people to visit Thailand, saying Chinese and Thai people are like family.
