Pork prices have fallen with the conclusion of the Lunar New Year celebrations, as officials continue their checks on supply, the Department of Internal Trade reported on Thursday.
DIT director-general Wattanasak Sur-iam said pork prices in greater Bangkok were now around 170-180 baht per kilogram, down from 250-300 baht/kg before the Lunar New Year.
Pork prices in other provinces were down to around 200 baht/kg.
He attributed the price decline to officials’ inspections of pork supply nationwide. This had prompted the release of sufficient meat from stocks to markets, and the farm price of pork consequently dropped below 100 baht/kg, he said.
