45-Year-Old Pattaya Man Nabbed for Shooting Gun in Public

Pattaya —

Pattaya Police arrested an ex-chef who fired three rounds in public, causing one woman to pass out from shock. The shots luckily hit nobody. The ex-chef reportedly fired his gun because he did not want his girlfriend to lend money to her friend.

The suspect, identified by police as Mr. Pornchai Boonpun, was apprehended in Soi Pattaya-Naklua in the Naklua subdistrict of Banglamung district. The police seized an 11mm pistol from the 45-year-old suspect.

Pornchai was reported to have fired his weapon three times in front of a laundromat a little past midnight today, February 19th. He was believed to have become frustrated after his girlfriend’s friend tried to borrow 500 Baht from his girlfriend, to which he disagreed. The discord caused a bitter argument between the pair, which later escalated to the shooting.

Although nobody was injured by the shots, one woman identified only as 20-year-old Ms. Ice was so frightened by the incident that she fainted, an unnamed eyewitness told The Pattaya News. She was transferred to a local hospital.

The suspect peacefully surrendered to the police and remains in custody as of press time. He used to be a chef working in the Pattaya area, his friend, who asked not to reveal their name, told The Pattaya News.
