20+ movies to watch outdoors at 10 Bangkok venues in July

Ten public spaces across Bangkok will host outdoor movies this month.

Part of a campaign by newly elected governor Chadchart Sittipunt, the selections range from mainstream Thai rom-coms and horror flicks like Bangkok Traffic (Love) Story and Shutter to underrated documentary School Town King, which follows young rappers in the city’s biggest slum as they try to break free from poverty and into the music scene.

It’s also a good chance to catch rarely seen, decades-old Thai films thanks to the Thai Film Archive.

Each screening will start at 7pm. Admission is free. English subtitles will be available for some movies. Wearing a mask is no longer required as it’s now based on a “voluntary basis.
